Help Clean Up Our Neighborhood
Earth Day, which falls on April 22, is the day to clean up our planet. But it's not something we should do on just one day; we should do it 365 days of the year! Since it's pretty hard to clean up the entire planet all by oneself, we thought we could start out by tidying up our neighborhood with these simple tasks:
- Away With Waste - Collecting garbage is smelly and gross, but it's a job that has to be done. We won't just stick to the streets; we'll hit the alleys, parks and parking lots to pick up any trash we see lying around.
- Gang Up On Graffiti - Graffiti can take the form of art, but it's considered vandalism if it's done on a person's property without their consent. We'll be washing down and painting walls, houses, fences, garage doors and anything else in the neighborhood that has graffiti on it.
- Mow, Mow, Mow Your Lawn - A nice lawn instantly brightens up the neighborhood. We'll be volunteering to do yard work by trimming hedges, plucking weeds and mowing lawns for the elderly.
- Flowers And Plants And Tress, Oh My! - Plants are important because they fight pollution by absorbing carbon dioxide from the air, as well as making the neighborhood a prettier place! We'll be planting flowers, shrubs and trees within the common areas.
- Let's Use It Again - Recycling is when an object can be shredded, melted or otherwise processed and then turned into a new raw material -- for instance, aluminum cans can be melted down to make more cans, glass can make more glass, cardboard and paper make more cardboard and paper. We will be looking for these items to help the environment.

If you would like to help clean up our neighborhood, we will be meeting every Saturday morning in the High School parking lot at 8:30 AM. Come as often and stay as long as you would like. We hope to see you there
